Nahamia Zanzibar mimi kwa mtaji huu - Zanzibar inflation falls to single digit

The annual headline inflation for Zanzibar declined to 9.0 per cent in June from 11.6 per cent in May, driven by increase in food supply, the central bank has said.

The July Economic Review released last week shows that annual food inflation slowed to 4.8 per cent in June from 9.6 per cent registered in May.  “Annual food inflation decline was mainly on account of drop in prices of rice, sugar, cassava and banana,” says the report.

Likewise according to the report, month-to-month food inflation decelerated to negative 1.9 per cent in June, from 0.5 per cent registered in the preceding month.
